Piconet, 20 October 2026
Version 0.3.0 · build 22b0212a
Game build 24a01485 / 1acfcf5f / ad36cdc0 (image / module / runner)
Server: stack A (address: wss://piconet-coordinator.fly.dev/ws)

You need
  - Windows 10 or 11, 64-bit, a processor from about 2015 or later (AVX2), a graphics card with Vulkan.
  - Your own F-Zero GX, USA version, as a plain .iso file. Nothing of the game is in this folder.

Steps
  1. Unzip the whole folder somewhere with 2 GB free. No install.
  2. Start "Piconet Launcher", the program in this folder. On the first screen choose your .iso and press
CONTINUE: the game is prepared from it, once only (about 1.5 GB, a minute or so).
  3. Controller: plug it in before you start. A gamepad or a GameCube adapter is picked up by itself the first
time. To check or change it: Settings, Controller. The picture there shows what the game sees.
  4. Play F-Zero GX for offline play, or RACE for Quick Play.

If you have an earlier copy
  - Unzip this copy into a new folder of its own, never over the old one.
  - Your name, settings, replays and the prepared game are in the old copy's "data" folder: move that folder, and
nothing else, into this one to keep them. The first screen asks for your .iso again only if the game has to be
    prepared again.

Everything it writes stays in the "data" folder here. Delete the folder to remove it all.
Windows may warn about an unknown program the first time: More info, Run anyway.

Players are put in the same lobby only when their game build is the same: the three
numbers above.

Credits: the GX Unleashed stats, which a session's server may switch on, are by AKC12, used with permission.

Source: the runner (recomp\moderngekko-run.exe) is built from ModernGekko and Dolphin (GPL-2.0-or-later) with the
patches in "source\forks"; its README.md says which commits they are applied to. The records of the builds are
beside them. Ask on the Piconet Discord for the full source of any part.
